POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position provides leadership to the People & Culture Team and Safety Coordinator, while supporting approximately 200 employees across the organization. Garibaldi operates 24 hours a day across three shifts. This position requires flexibility to support employees and leaders across the full operation, including occasional availability outside regular working hours.
People & Culture Leadership
- Foster and promote "The Garibaldi Way" by driving a culture of teamwork, shared accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a trusted HR partner to employees and leaders, strengthening workplace relationships, supporting morale and retention, and advising on performance, culture, change management, and risk.
- Lead and mentor the People & Culture team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
- Partner with leadership to identify and address organizational needs, aligning people strategies with business objectives and creating a roadmap for implementation.
- Develop policies that enhance the employee experience, shaping a culture of growth and inclusion.
Recruitment, Onboarding, & Retention
- Lead workforce planning, recruitment, succession, and recognition programs to attract and retain top talent.
- Manage and mentor the People & Culture team in refining and executing recruitment strategies, ensuring innovative sourcing and seamless hiring processes for both office and production roles.
- Ensure a seamless onboarding experience that equips new hires for success and supports long-term retention.
- Collaborate with leaders and teams to develop retention initiatives that strengthen engagement and support employee growth.
Education, Training, & Growth
- Design and deliver impactful training programs, partnering with departments to create tailored opportunities that support leadership development and role-specific growth.
- Assess the effectiveness of training initiatives using feedback and participation metrics, refining programs as needed.
- Promote internal career pathways and succession planning to support long-term growth and leadership continuity.
- Introduce external education opportunities to provide employees with cutting-edge industry knowledge.
- Leverage the Learning Management System and related HR tools to support training delivery, track employee learning, maintain training records, and identify opportunities to strengthen development across the organization.
Health & Safety and Compliance
- Ensure HR practices remain compliant with labour laws and regulations, while managing HR-related risk and legal matters to protect the organization.
- Lead safety initiatives to ensure COR audit readiness, address gaps in standards, and foster a proactive safety culture in collaboration with the Safety team and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
- Manage relationships with WorkSafeBC and benefits providers, ensuring effective claims management, recovery programs, and a thoughtful approach to employee wellbeing and total rewards.
- Develop initiatives that promote physical and mental wellbeing, enhancing overall employee satisfaction and productivity.
HR Tools & Systems
- Monitor HR metrics and use data-driven insights to recommend improvements to processes, programs, and overall employee experience.
- Ensure HR-related documents, records, and systems are accurately maintained, securely managed, and aligned with operational and compliance requirements.
- Oversee the implementation and utilization of the Learning Management System, including training records, development planning, and opportunities to strengthen employee growth.
- Coordinate and support the performance appraisal process, ensuring consistency, fairness, and alignment with organizational goals while equipping managers and employees for meaningful feedback conversations.
- Stay current on HR technology trends and recommend tools and system enhancements aligned with business needs.
Education, Experience, & Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. CPHR designation is considered an asset.
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including exposure to employee relations, talent management, performance management, and benefits administration.
- At least 2 years of demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in managing HR personnel or teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and regulations, with the ability to ensure compliance and advise on legal matters.
- Proven expertise in organizational development, employee relations, and recruitment strategies.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Experience working in manufacturing, production, or a distribution environment is considered an asset.
- A forward-thinking, relationship-focused mindset with a proven ability to inspire and engage teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of BC employment laws and a strong foundation in HR best practices.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate diverse workstyles and perspectives.
- Strategic vision paired with the ability to implement initiatives that drive measurable results over time.
- Experience implementing tools and leveraging HR software for optimized processes.
- Proven success in HR leadership roles, with experience in building high-performing, cohesive teams.
- Commitment to confidentiality, organization, and professionalism in all aspects of work.
- Proficiency in Office 365, with experience using platforms such as ADP, LinkedIn, Indeed, Predictive Index, and LMS.

- Annual Salary: $100,000 to $120,000, commensurate with skills, experience, and alignment with organizational priorities

- This position works primarily in an office environment, with regular presence in the manufacturing facility. With 24-hour operations across three shifts, this position requires flexibility to support employees across all shifts, including outside regular working hours.
