Job Description
Summary: Hi Tech Honeycomb, Inc is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to work on-site in Kearny Mesa, California. The role involves developing and improving manufacturing methods, providing engineering support to production operations, and collaborating with various teams to enhance efficiency and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and improving manufacturing methods, process flows, layouts, tooling, and equipment configurations to enhance efficiency, productivity, quality, and safety
- Providing day to day manufacturing engineering support to production operations and shop floor activities, working closely with operators, supervisors, quality, and cross functional teams to resolve issues, improve workflow, and minimize downtime
- Troubleshooting manufacturing and process related issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and continuous improvement actions to improve throughput, reduce scrap, rework, and operational costs
- Maintaining a strong presence on the shop floor to monitor manufacturing processes, support production priorities, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure compliance with manufacturing and quality requirements
- Collaborating with Production, Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Supply Chain teams to support production schedules, improve communication, and ensure on time delivery while optimizing resource utilization
- Developing, reviewing, and maintaining manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process routers, and training materials to ensure process consistency and compliance with company and customer requirements
- Developing and supporting quality control plans, inspections, process validations, and data analysis activities to ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering requirements, and internal quality standards
- Evaluating the feasibility, capability, and cost effectiveness of new manufacturing processes, technologies, tooling, automation, and equipment, and providing recommendations for implementation
- Providing technical guidance and training to production personnel to ensure proper execution of manufacturing processes, adherence to safety requirements, and compliance with quality standards
- Supporting supplier related technical activities involving manufacturing processes, tooling, materials, and equipment to ensure quality and process capability
- Participating in new product introduction (NPI), process development, process qualification, and production readiness activities as required
- Supporting investigations related to nonconforming material, customer complaints, and process deviations when applicable
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering
- Proficiency in various manufacturing processes, such as machining, assembly, automation, and quality control
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, Pro Engineer, Microsoft Office, ERP/MRP and CAD/CAM software, and any other relevant tools
- The ability to analyze complex manufacturing problems, develop innovative solutions, and optimize processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating resources, setting timelines, and ensuring timely delivery of products
- Experience in implementing quality control measures, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Effective verbal and written communication to collaborate with cross-functional teams, present ideas, and provide technical guidance
- Capability to lead and motivate teams, delegate tasks, and foster a collaborative work environment
- Proficient in data analysis and interpretation, using statistical methods to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and make informed decisions
- Understanding and adherence to safety guidelines, environmental regulations, and risk assessment procedures
