Sr. Gaming AI Engineer
Description -
We are seeking a highly skilled Gaming AI Engineer with strong system engineering and hands-on coding experience to design, develop, and integrate AI-driven capabilities across HP’s Gaming Solutions portfolio. This role bridges AI model development, system-level optimization, and real-world deployment on gaming PCs, enabling intelligent, performant, and scalable gaming experiences.
Key Responsibilities
AI Development & Coding
Design, develop, and optimize AI/ML models for gaming applications (e.g., inference optimization, gameplay intelligence, personalization).
Write production-quality code in Python, C++, and/or C# for AI pipelines, model integration, and runtime systems.
Implement and fine-tune AI models using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX Runtime, or DirectML.
Develop and optimize real-time inference pipelines for low-latency gaming environments.
System Engineering & Integration
Architect and integrate AI capabilities across hardware, OS, drivers, and gaming applications.
Optimize AI workloads across CPU, GPU, and NPU architectures, leveraging platform-specific accelerations.
Collaborate with silicon, driver, and OS teams to enable end-to-end system-level AI performance tuning.
Lead validation and benchmarking of AI features across gaming devices to ensure performance, stability, and scale.
Gaming Experience Innovation
Develop AI-driven features that enhance gaming experiences (e.g., performance optimization, adaptive systems, content generation).
Collaborate with Product Managers to translate emerging hardware/software technologies into differentiated gaming capabilities.
Prototype new AI-powered gaming experiences and iterate based on user feedback.
Productization & Ecosystem
Support end-to-end product development including NPI readiness, Validation, and press/influencer readiness.
Work with R&D teams to resolve technical issues and ensure seamless integration of AI features.
Stay current with AI trends (Generative AI, edge AI, real-time inference) and gaming ecosystem advancements.
Community & Thought Leadership
Engage with gaming communities, reviewers, and influencers to understand trends and feedback.
Create demos, benchmarks, and technical content showcasing AI-powered gaming features.
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Technical Skills (Core Emphasis)
Strong programming experience in Python, C++, or C# with demonstrated AI/ML project work.
Hands-on experience in training, fine-tuning, and deploying AI/ML models.
Experience with model optimization techniques (quantization, pruning, batching, hardware acceleration).
Understanding of system-level architecture (CPU/GPU scheduling, memory management, performance profiling).
Experience working with AI on edge devices / client platforms (Windows AI stack preferred).
Familiarity with APIs and runtimes such as DirectML, CUDA, OpenVINO, or similar frameworks.
Gaming & Platform Experience
Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal Engine) and integration of AI features into gameplay systems.
Understanding of gaming hardware, performance tuning, and benchmarking methodologies.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Generative AI (LLMs, diffusion, multimodal models) in real-time or edge scenarios.
Exposure to AI-powered system features such as content generation, optimization layers, or personalization engines.
Familiarity with cloud-to-edge AI pipelines.
What Makes This Role Unique
Direct impact on AI PC + Gaming convergence, a priority area for HP.
Opportunity to lead system-level AI innovation, not just model development.
Strong alignment with real-world gamer experience, NPI readiness, and community feedback loops.
The pay range for this role is$105,050to$161,800USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
