Job Description
Summary:
Growth at Hedra is yours to run. As the founding member of our Growth team, you'll own the work that moves the numbers - sign-ups, activation, conversion, retention, revenue - and build the infrastructure that lets us test and ship faster than anyone else. We already get tens of thousands of organic visitors every day. Your job is to turn them into happy retained customers. That includes the hard parts of monetization: tiered pricing, usage-based billing, payment flows, subscription logic.
You'll set technical direction for the team, coach other engineers on how to run experiments without fooling themselves, and decide when something deserves a real test versus when to just commit and move on. You'll know when the metric is lying, when to trust your gut, and when to keep digging. You'll be the person who spots the 10x opportunity buried in a dashboard nobody else read carefully enough.
We're in the office 5 days a week in San Francisco. We get more done in the same room, and we like it that way - though working from home when you need deep focus is fine.
What you'll actually do
- Architect the growth stack: experimentation platform, analytics pipelines, feature flags, credits system
- Ship the monetization surface area - pricing tiers, usage metering, checkout, subscriptions
- Call the technical shots on growth bets: experiment or commit, rebuild or iterate
- Help other engineers get sharper at experimentation and product thinking
- Find the 10x wins hiding in the data, kill the bottlenecks, design for the next order of magnitude
Must-Have Experience:
- 7+ years building production web apps, comfortable across the full stack
- A track record of actually moving business metrics - revenue, activation, retention - at real scale
- Strong technical instincts: you can architect complex systems, make the build-vs-buy call, and set direction without hand-holding
- Real experimentation chops: you know the statistical traps, you've avoided them, and you've built frameworks that let teams move fast without breaking the math
- Fluency in TypeScript, React, and Node (or the equivalent elsewhere - fundamentals matter more than logos on a resume)
Nice-To-Have Experience:
- Sharp product and business sense: you can see what's coming, turn strategy into shipped work, and prove it with numbers
- Experience with payments, billing, and fraud at scale
- Low ego, high autonomy, genuinely curious about your own blind spots, and someone people want to work with
- Bonus: 0→1 monetization work, scaling growth from early stage through Series B+, or building experimentation platforms from scratch
Benefits:
- Competitive compensation and equity
- 401k
- Healthcare (Silver PPO Medical, Vision, Dental)
- Lunch and snacks at the office
