Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
• Plan and provide nursing care for patients; perform nursing diagnoses and recommend treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff in designing appropriate treatment plans for clients.
• Administer psychotropic drugs and other medications; monitor and document reactions.
• Arrange further medical attention when necessary and maintain a safe, secure environment for staff and patients.
• Test vital signs and assess pain; ensure appropriate pain treatment and relief.
• Document all patient information on medical charts; follow physician orders; maintain patient confidentiality.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results according to standard medical recordkeeping.
• Perform administrative tasks (filing, answering phones, typing, progress notes in the computer system) and provide courteous service to patients and the public.

Requirements

• Active New York RN license (NY License ONLY)
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY)
• Telemetry experience
• Minimum 2 years RN clinical experience
• Ability to work in a hospital setting with rotating shifts and on-call requirements per unit needs
