The LatAm OTC Lead will serve as the LatAm R&D’s strategic scientific expert for the OTC Health categories. This Director‑level role is responsible for shaping and advancing the LatAm OTC R&D pipeline, ensuring scientific rigor, compliance, and consumer‑centric innovation across priority brands and therapeutic areas. The role is essential in implementing an end-to-end category-led strategy, serving as a vital link between the R&D category team and the OU. The role reports to the LatAm R&D Lead and will have dual accountability to OU and Category
Role Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Innovation:
Provide scientific and technical leadership for the OTC categories within the LatAm OU, shaping and maintaining the innovation and claims roadmap.
Technical Expertise & Evidence Generation:
Lead design and execution of clinical, laboratory, and claims-supporting studies, serving as the expert on OTC science within the LatAm OU.
Regulatory & Compliance Support:
Partner with Regulatory Affairs to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations within the LatAm OU.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Engagement:
Collaborate across R&D, Medical, Marketing, Insights, Commercial, Consumer Science, Packaging, and Supply Chain functions, fostering collaboration and engagement across diverse teams and geographies.
Project & Program Leadership:
Lead key R&D projects within the LatAm OU, ensuring scientific integrity and delivery, while managing the execution of innovation projects for successful commercialization.
Provide leadership for local and global brand initiatives, serving as a critical link between the R&D category team and the LatAm OU.
Strategic Collaboration & Consumer Focus:
Drive strategic alignment with LatAm OU innovation needs by promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration across departments and regions, utilizing scientific literature and competitive intelligence to inform innovation strategies.
Ensure consumer insights are integral to innovation processes, driving early-stage development and prototype creation that align with consumer needs and technical understanding.
Agility and Process Improvement:
Champion innovative practices and the elimination of non-value-added processes, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of project delivery in alignment with strategic innovation goals.
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
Advanced degree (PhD, DDS/DMD, MS) in a relevant scientific discipline.
10+ years’ experience in R&D within consumer health, or pharmaceutical fields.
Proven expertise in leading innovation and development projects within the consumer health industry, with a strong focus on formulation and process knowledge.
Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive collaboration across R&D, Commercial, Consumer Insights, and Supply Chain functions.
Experience in successfully transitioning innovation projects from concept to commercialization, with a track record of delivering consumer-relevant and scientifically differentiated products.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform comprehensive evaluations of internal and external data to inform strategic decision-making.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders.
Demonstrated agility and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proven ability to champion innovative practices and process improvements.

Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with external partners and suppliers, fostering an environment of knowledge sharing and strategic alignment.
