Job Description
Summary: Great Southern Bank is committed to fostering an environment where everyone can contribute and succeed at every level. The Commercial Lending Intern is responsible for working with the Commercial Lending team to conduct financial analysis, preparing credit memorandums, and completing other tasks and projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with the preparation of memorandums and loan approval summaries for prospective and renewing loans in an accurate, logical, and a timely manner. This duty is performed about 20% of the time
- Assists with conducting loan portfolio analysis. This includes, but is not limited to, researching and analyzing financial statement data, evaluating industry trends, and creating projections. Consults with loan officers, accounting firms, and customers to ensure a comprehensive technical review of prospective and existing credit facilities. This duty is performed about 25% of the time
- Accompanies relationship managers on prospective and existing customer calls to discuss borrowing needs. Must effectively communicate with prospects and customers to procure financial data, assist with loan payment collections and serve as a liaison with clients. This duty is performed about 10% of the time
- Responsible for shadowing, asking questions, and gaining insight into the duties and responsibilities of all Commercial Lending functions. This duty is performed about 15% of the time
- Responsible for completing a variety of tasks and special projects which may include data input, validation and analysis, report preparation, and maintaining data files and other records. This duty is performed about 30% of the time
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance, punctuality and personal appearance. Reads, writes, and communicates in a clear and efficient manner via various types of correspondence, such as, in person, phone, email, letters, etc. Adheres to all company policies and procedures, as well as all applicable banking rules, regulations, and laws (including BSA/AML)
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Some college and/or equivalent related experience
- Regular use of desktop/laptop computer and basic operating systems
- Basic experience with alphanumeric data entry, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Word
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
