Why Work at GCU: Tuition benefits specifically for the adjunct employee 401(k) Employee Perks and Discounts Course: Adolescent Literacy This course is designed to develop a broad range of research-based reading methodologies to enhance the learning strategies of middle and secondary school students. Major emphasis is placed on the use of reading strategies for culturally and socially diverse classrooms, including the use of literacy-based instruction in all content areas and understanding, evaluating, and promoting effective pedagogy in adolescent literacy. The development and use of integrated and thematic approaches of instruction are addressed. Teacher candidates are expected to observe and assist in a grade 5-12 classroom while taking this course. Practicum/field experience hours: 15. Fingerprint clearance required. What You Will Do: Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance, and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession. Other main responsibilities include the following: Facilitate weekly main discussion forums to engage students in the online classroom. Adhere to weekly grading requirements, deadlines, and timeframes. Respond to students’ questions and emails within the established timeframes. Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University. Qualifications: Please read carefully and ensure you meet qualifications before submitting your application. Preferred: Doctorate in Special Education or Doctorate in Elementary Education or Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or Doctorate in Learning and Teaching or Doctorate in Educational Psychology or Doctorate in Psychology. Minimum: Masters in Special Education or Masters in Elementary Education or Masters in Curriculum and Instruction AND 2 areas of exceptional expertise. All instructors must have a minimum of five years of experience as special education and/or elementary classroom teacher or instructional specialist or 1-8 team lead or 1-8 department chair or curriculum coach or new teacher mentor of 1-8 teachers AND At least six graduate credits in educational psychology or human development or child psychology or credits of methods/strategies/characteristics/curriculum planning for students with mild to moderate disabilities. #ESD #SPED #ELM #ChristianEducation #Inclusion #Online #Remote #Adjunct #INDLOPESUP
