Job Description
The Role
General Motors is seeking a Project Lead, Technician Recruitment & Training Technology to help shape the future of the technician career path and training experience. This role will lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution of technology-enabled solutions that strengthen the technician talent pipeline, modernize training delivery, and improve retention of top-performing technicians.
This is a high-impact, cross-functional role within Dealer Service & Warranty Operations (DSWO) with responsibility for translating business needs into scalable solutions across recruitment, learning, training delivery, technician engagement, and retention. The role also provides operational support to leadership by driving business reviews, executive communications, performance reporting, and alignment across key initiatives.
At GM, technicians are critical to delivering world-class ownership and service experience. This role supports that mission by helping position the technician career path as modern, connected, and innovation-focused while improving how current technicians learn, grow, and succeed.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
Lead the end-to-end strategy for technology solutions that support technician recruitment, onboarding, training, engagement, and retention.
Build and manage a multi-year roadmap focused on attracting next-generation technician talent and improving the technician experience across the full lifecycle.
Identify, evaluate, pilot, and scale digital and immersive technologies that improve learning effectiveness, talent conversion, and technician productivity, including AI, remote assistance, AR/MR, digital learning tools, and connected training experiences.
Partner across HR, Dealer Operations, Technical Training, Marketing, Field teams, IT, external vendors, schools, and dealer partners to define requirements and deliver solutions.
Translate technician feedback into actionable solutions, especially in areas where technicians have asked for more hands-on training, more accessible training locations, and faster training on new technologies.
Develop business cases, success metrics, implementation plans, and governance models for new programs and platforms.
Lead pilot design, change management, adoption planning, and performance tracking to ensure solutions deliver measurable business value.
Benchmark competitive OEM and skilled-trade talent practices and use those insights to improve GM’s position in the market.
Drive solutions that support both new technician attraction and retention of current top talent by making the technician career path more innovative, visible, and rewarding.
Present recommendations, progress updates, risks, and investment needs to senior leadership.
DSWO Operations Support Responsibilities
Develop recurring business reviews, scorecards, and executive dashboards to track performance against key objectives, milestones, and operational targets.
Lead planning and coordination for leadership meetings, staff reviews, and cross-functional working sessions, including agenda development, pre-reads, action tracking, and follow-up communication.
Create clear, concise PowerPoint presentations and executive-ready materials that summarize business performance, project updates, key decisions, and recommended actions.
Partner with cross-functional teams to gather inputs, consolidate updates, and ensure leadership is aligned on priorities, timelines, and next steps.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, education, learning technology, human resources, marketing, or related field and or equivalent experience.
3-5+ years of experience in project leadership, program management, product management, digital transformation, workforce strategy, learning technology, or related areas.
Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution.
Experience evaluating or implementing technology solutions in recruitment, training, learning, workforce development, or field operations environments.
Strong ability to convert ambiguous business needs into structured roadmaps, pilots, and scalable programs.
Proven stakeholder management skills across corporate functions, operations teams, and external partners.
Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
Experience building KPIs, measuring outcomes, and managing budgets or business cases.
Experience developing executive dashboards, scorecards, business reviews, and leadership-ready presentation materials.
Strong organizational discipline with the ability to manage leadership routines, pre-reads, action tracking, and cross-functional follow-up.
Up to 25 percent travel to regional training centers and supplier locations may be required.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience in automotive, mobility, industrial, technical training, dealership, service operations, or skilled trades environments.
Experience with technician, manufacturing, field service, or vocational workforce audiences.
Familiarity with learning management systems, immersive learning tools, CRM/recruiting platforms, and digital adoption tools.
Experience with talent pipeline partnerships involving schools, colleges, training providers, or industry associations.
Knowledge of change management and user adoption practices for frontline or distributed workforces.
Experience benchmarking competitors and translating market insights into internal strategy.
