About the Department
The Department of Social Services seeks a highly motivated and dependable professional to join our Customer Care team. This role requires advanced communication and exceptional customer service skills to primarily support the Economic and Medicaid Services Division, while also assisting customers who need Family and Children Services and Adult Services.
Position Duties
The successful candidate will provide guidance to customers who enter the agency, use universal computer technology such as Microsoft Office, NCFAST (North Carolina’s Eligibility Case Management system), a web-based reception system, the Laserfiche Document Management system, utilize de-escalation skills when appropriate, and thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
They will assist customers with questions regarding economic benefits, including the following programs: Childcare Subsidies, Adult Medicaid, Family and Children's Medicaid, Energy, Medicaid Transportation, Food and Nutrition, Program Integrity, and Work First. Completing Food and Nutrition Interviews, keying applications into NCFAST, case completion, scanning documents to Laserfiche, and assisting customers in completing their paperwork.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or GED and two years of paraprofessional or clerical public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks;
or graduation from high school or GED and one year of experience in an income maintenance program.
A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
