Job Description
Summary: First Tennessee Human Resource Agency (FTHRA) is seeking a Misdemeanor Probation Intern to provide practical work experience for students pursuing degrees in Criminal Justice or related fields. The role involves assisting Case Officers with administrative and case management tasks, and offers the possibility of full-time employment after obtaining a Bachelor's degree.
Responsibilities:
- Assists Case Officers with the opening and closing of files and records as assigned
- Performs data entry, printing and preparation of client intake paperwork
- Maintains an updated file of all CCI intake forms and other basic office paperwork
- Answers the lobby door and telephone. Forwards calls, takes messages, notifies CCI Staff as appropriate
- Sorts and distributes court paperwork
- Prints court dockets, check against client list, notates CCI clients on docket, and pulls client files for court
- Writes reports, correspondence and other documents as required. Photocopies, collates, assembles, files and distributes completed documents as required
- Assists Case Officers in preparing new client files
- Participates in staff meetings, conferences and training. Takes notes at Staff Meetings and team meetings
- Submits to periodic and random drug/alcohol screens. Abides by Agency Rules, Regulations, Policies, Procedures and Agency Handbook
- This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive. Incumbent is responsible for other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications:
- Entry-level experience
- Working toward completion of at least 2 years of college or an Associate's degree required
- Must possess knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- This position requires a criminal background check
- All applicants are drug screened upon being made a contingent offer of employment
- All employees are subject to random drug screens
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in criminal justice, pre-law or related field from an accredited college
