Job Description
Summary: Festo is a leading worldwide supplier of automation technology, inspiring innovation in industrial automation. They are seeking enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering Interns to support design, prototyping, and validation activities within the LifeTech Business Unit.
Responsibilities:
- Design components and assemblies using CAD (Creo Parametric)
- Create technical production and assembly drawings
- Build samples for testing, proof-of-concept models, mock-ups, and functional/appearance prototypes
- Identify and interface with third-party suppliers and integrate their components into designs
- Support advanced R&D initiatives and prototyping efforts in collaboration with cross-functional team members
- Participate in cross-disciplinary design and development projects
- Identify emerging technologies to help define future product development opportunities
- Research advanced materials and manufacturing processes
- Contribute to project schedules, milestones, and deliverables
- Support positive team interactions to achieve program objectives
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Strong CAD skills (preferably Creo Parametric)
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility and comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Basic understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- Basic knowledge of functional dimensioning and geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
- Demonstrated knowledge of materials and common manufacturing methods
- Experience with or exposure to rapid prototyping processes (e.g., 3D printing)
