Financial Aid Advisor

Summary: Farmingdale State College is seeking a Financial Aid Advisor. The Financial Aid Advisor is responsible for reviewing financial aid applications, certifying loans, and managing financial aid packages for students, while also providing support for the Study Abroad Program and representing the College at various events. Responsibilities: - Reviewing and verifying financial aid applications - Performing needs analysis calculations - Certifying alternative loans - Processing consortium agreements - Completing and revising financial aid packages for an assigned student population - Managing the State University Student Assistance (SUSTA) program - Serving as the liaison for the Study Abroad Program - Providing advisement, budgeting support, and cost-of-travel guidance to participating students - Representing the College at internal and external events, including Open House, Financial Aid Days, and similar activities Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree - Professional experience in Customer Service or Higher Education - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills - Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information Preferred Qualifications: - At least 3 years of professional experience in Higher Education - Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations - Experience working with student data systems Required Skills: Financial Aid Regulations, Student Data Systems, Needs Analysis, Financial Aid Application Review, Alternative Loan Certification, Consortium Agreement Processing, Financial Aid Packaging, Customer Service Benefits: Health insurance options, Retirement plans
