Job Description
Summary: Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington is a nonprofit organization that helps people get jobs by offering job training and placement services. The Financial Analyst supports the Finance & Accounting team with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate financial data and support decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for management review
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including financial statements and management reports
- Prepare and analyze departmental and program financial reports, identifying variances, trends, and areas for improvement to support leadership decision-making
- Support the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting, working with departments and program managers to ensure accurate financial planning
- Support the Mission Advancement team by ensuring financial compliance with grant requirements and preparing financial statements on programs
- Perform cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of current programs and operational expenditures
- Develop and maintain financial models and analytical tools to support financial planning, program evaluation, and organizational decision-making
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in D365 system, including financial reporting, data integrity, and operational efficiency
- Maintain and review general ledger (GL) accounts, ensuring accurate coding, reconciliations, and integrity of financial data
- Monitor and track work-in-progress (WIP) projects and capital expenditures, coordinating with the Procurement team to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting
- Work closely with the Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Procurement teams to support financial operations, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate financial records
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis requested by the Manager and Director
- Promote and uphold safe work practices through awareness, training, and reporting of potential hazards
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum of 1-2 years of progressive financial analysis experience
- Proficient in financial modeling, forecasting, and reporting
- Knowledge of and experience with D365, and Power BI
- Proven ability to analyze large amounts of data and provide actionable insights
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders clearly and concisely
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and ability to learn new technologies
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in nonprofit accounting is preferred but not required
