Job Description
Summary: EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants is one of the fastest-growing firms in the insurance industry, headquartered in New York City. They are seeking a Carrier & Market Performance Intern to support their Commercial Insurance team in the Midwest region, focusing on strengthening carrier partnerships and improving operational performance through project-based work.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Commercial Insurance team in analyzing carrier compensation structures, including supplemental/contingent income programs
- Help maintain and improve data on carrier production, volumes, loss ratios, and support tiers
- Assist in building dashboards or trackers that quantify:
- Which carriers pay supplemental compensation
- Qualification thresholds and performance criteria
- Gaps between current and target carrier tiers
- Underwriting Appetite and Satisfaction Ratings
- Collect information from internal stakeholders and carrier partners to ensure accuracy and completeness of data
- Evaluate and summarize opportunities to improve carrier status and unlock additional compensation
- Document current workflows and assist in identifying process improvements that increase operational ease
- Prepare summaries, reports, and presentation materials for leadership
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on assigned deliverables
- Perform other project-based duties as assigned to support regional operational and revenue initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a degree in: Risk Management & Insurance, Business, Finance, Marketing, Sales, or related field
- Strong analytical skills and interest in understanding how insurance carriers drive revenue and operations
- Organized, detail oriented, and able to manage multiple project components at once
- Clear, professional communication skills — written and verbal
- Ability to handle data, identify patterns, and synthesize key insights
- Comfortable working in Microsoft 365, especially Excel (required)
- Experience or willingness to learn carrier portals, CRM tools, and internal systems
- Curiosity about commercial insurance markets and how agencies partner with carriers
- A proactive, self starter mindset with a willingness to dive into complex topics and learn quickly
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in insurance or financial services is helpful but not required
- Experience with data analysis, research, reporting, or insurance coursework is a plus
