Geotechnical Internship - Special Projects Group (Level 1)

Summary: ECS Group of Companies is a leader in geotechnical, construction materials, environmental, and facilities consulting services. They are seeking a Geotechnical Intern to assist with lab testing, drafting boring logs, scheduling drill rigs, and performing subsurface explorations. Responsibilities: - Assisting with performing lab testing - Drafting boring logs and location diagrams - Scheduling of drill rigs for geotechnical projects - Obtaining utility clearance for subsurface explorations - Assisting with the subsurface exploration program and preparing drilling instructions - Performing boring and test pit layouts by both conventional surveying and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) - Classifying soil samples - Performing hand augers to obtain subsurface information and soil samples - Observing foundation or ground improvement installations Required Qualifications: - Actively pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or related degree - Interest in how structures are supported and a desire to think outside the box - Must be able to provide suitable transportation for use on job sites - mileage will be reimbursed - Position requires carrying 40 - 70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height Required Skills: Civil Engineering, Geology Important Skills: Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Lab Testing Nice-to-Have Skills: Interest in structures Benefits: Mileage will be reimbursed
