Position Summary:
The Lead PGO Generation Services Consultant serves as the PGO-RRE liaison for fleet wide RRE generation facilities. This position supports all PGO-RRE leadership with their important duties that ensure all of Duke Energy’s Generation relays remain NERC compliant. As a crucial point of contact between RRE and PGO, this employee must be capable of representing all relay testing and scheduling matters between the generation plants and various PGO teams. The position has a responsibility to organize and facilitate meetings between RRE plants and PGO leaders. Employee must constantly exhibit and execute support activities while maintaining safety, regulatory compliance, schedule, configuration management, and plant integration. The individual must be capable of communicating, coordinating, and leading various work groups, especially across Generation and PGO boundaries, to achieve program objectives.
Within a highly regulated work environment which includes NERC Compliance, internal and external resources and scheduling. The Lead maintains a constant presence ensuring adherence to specifications, policies, and procedures. Due to regulatory scrutiny, this program manager must recognize weaknesses and drift. Then communicate with stakeholders and performers through BES relay compliance alerts. Must maintain a SharePoint site which stores information that is relevant to both the fleet RRE Generation sites and PGO/contractor performers. This position requires the employee to be well versed in both PGO and RRE Generation policies/procedures. The employee must frequently operate across NC/SC supporting multiple RRE Generation facilities with occasional overnight travel.
The Lead PGO Generation Services Consultant must be well versed in both financial and accounting practices, so to provide advice to PGO and RRE leadership. In addition, the role serves as the single point of contact for the procurement of resources and specialized parts, demonstrating a keen understanding of Maximo PRs and POs.
In addition, fosters a culture that values self-reporting compliance violations/errors/Human Performance events, continuous improvement, and consistency between each area of responsibility. Also, importantly this employee must operate under both RRE and PGO, safety, training, processes, and programs and remain trained/qualified and well acquainted with entering the Generation areas.
Responsibilities:
Works across RRE and PGO boundaries through written and verbal communication while fostering open communications between both organizations.
Track and exchange all NERC PRC-005 information through use of SFTP. Schedule all required testing and engage the necessary resources.
Package PRC-005 testing data and file in the designated repository.
Create new NERC PMs in Maximo for new builds and modifications/upgrades.
Facilitate collaborative meetings with RRE and PGO organizations to coordinate and execute the interface agreement and operating guidelines.
Develop positive working relationships with RRE/COSO and PGO using effective oral and written communication skills.
Superior verbal and written communications skills with ability to interact with both PGO and RRE leadership.
Convey complex NERC information clearly and concisely at different levels of RRE and PGO organization.
Track all aspects of the RRE NERC relay maintenance programs, from objectives and tasks to resources and deadlines.
Ensure business goals and objectives are accomplished through effective communication and work monitoring.
Recommend improvements to ensure program is carried out effectively and within budget.
Assist in developing outage work plans to reduce inefficiencies for the entire RRE organization regarding NERC relay testing
Support PGO and contract teams operating within RRE plant boundaries, while exercising broad knowledge of both RRE/COSO and PGO expectations including work/activities inside RRE protected areas
Ensure relay testing and work activities are compliant to federal and state regulatory agencies such as FERC, NERC.
Understanding of policies and procedures for regulatory requirements (NERC PRC-005 program).
Support both RRE and PGO performers with PGO/RRE work methods, procedures, practices, and in compliance with design and construction standards
Required/Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology or Other Related Degree
In addition to required degree, seven (7) or more years’ related work experience
In lieu of Bachelor’s degree(s) AND seven (7) or more years related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND ten (10) or more years related work experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
3 years of power plant experience
5 years of resource scheduling experience
Multi-site experience for Duke Energy, Gas, Hydro, Coal, Solar, and Battery Storage.
Maintain and confirm vendor laptop testing software
Ability to assess and evaluate workers. Must be able to ensure NERC compliance.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team toward a positive safety culture, including a working knowledge of OSHA and Safe Work Practice standards
Proven track record of taking ownership and accountability for own actions and those of the assigned teams’ actions
Proven track record of working collaboratively with external contractors and other organizations
Experience with station group interfaces required (Operations, Maintenance, Work Control, EHS, Site Services, Supply Chain)
Ability to work with suppliers, vendors, contingent resources and plant personnel to facilitate common goals for success

Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility.
Extended periods of sitting and computer work, communication via phone, email, text, Teams platforms.
Specific Requirements
Pass Generation required qualifications, fit for duty, and psychological, and maintain unescorted access to Protected Areas within Generation facilities
Must be able to obtain unescorted access to Duke's Generation facilities
Pass required background check for NERC/CIP
Must have a permanent residence approximately forty-five minutes within base location
Availability for after-hours work and call out rotation
Ability to pass any required background check for NERC/CIP/Generation compliance
Familiarity with nondestructive testing, knowledge of crafts associated with the maintenance of a generation power plant, and an understanding of the codes and standards related to electrical, pressure vessel, and piping maintenance
Generation power plant operational knowledge consistent with the requirements of the maintenance manager's job
This position is based out of Charlotte, NC
Demonstrated ability to independently manage and direct multiple projects with little/no supervision.
Experience in regulated environment, including interfacing with regulatory agencies.
