Position Summary
The Associate General Counsel will serve as a key member of DMA’s Legal function, providing practical, business-oriented legal advice across the organization. This role will focus heavily on commercial contracting and day-to-day partnership with sales and operations teams, while also supporting a broad range of corporate, compliance, and risk management initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative, responsive attorney with strong law firm training and deep experience advising business stakeholders, who is adept at managing legal risk while enabling the business’s operational and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Contracting & Revenue Support
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including client engagement agreements and vendor contracts
Partner closely with sales and operations teams to structure, negotiate, and finalize client agreements
Provide practical, solutions-oriented guidance to facilitate revenue generation and optimize agreement enforceability while managing risk to the business
Consult with Human Resources personnel on employment and immigration law issues, involving outside counsel as necessary
Perform reviews of commercial leases and related agreements
Assist with various areas of legal work associated with M&A transactions
Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and standard terms
Business Partnership
Act as a trusted legal advisor to business operations and functional leaders and their team members
Translate complex legal concepts into actionable, understandable guidance for non-legal stakeholders
Proactively identify risks and collaborate on mitigation strategies aligned with company objectives
Corporate, Compliance & Risk Management
Support enterprise compliance initiatives and internal policy development
Assist with corporate governance and legal entity management
Participate in internal investigations and risk assessments as needed
Specialty Legal Support
Provide legal support across a range of areas, including employment, M&A, and regulatory matters
Partner with internal stakeholders and external counsel on specialized legal issues as required
Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing
5–7 years of experience at a mid-to-large-sized law firm
Significant experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including both client/customer and vendor contracts
Demonstrated experience working closely with business partners, particularly sales and operations personnel
Strong analytical, negotiation, and issue-spotting skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, business-driven environment

Prior experience as in-house counsel
