Products created using DAPS are superior in performance, lower in cost, rapidly customizable to meet mission and customer-specific requirements, faster to market, and scalable on demand to high volume production. Divergent is a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs, and Divergent is now expanding to support mission critical needs in the Aerospace and Defense sector. Join us to be a part of this transformative journey, where your impact will shape the future of technology and production.

The successful candidate will design, implement, and audit process safety systems across the full lifecycle of L-PBF production. This includes raw powder management, inert gas distribution, multi-kilowatt laser operations, and post-processing. Your primary mission is to prevent major safety incidents while simultaneously scaling robust, inherently safe additive manufacturing equipment and factories. The Process Safety Engineer will be considered a subject matter expert in metal powder additive manufacturing.

- Manage Dust Hazard Analyses (DHA’s) in real-time to ensure process safety controls can scale at pace with rapid company growth
- Evaluate facility designs to ensure alignment to building code requirements
- Work with equipment engineers to ensure in-house designed and built additive manufacturing equipment meets or exceeds industry standards
- Conduct risk assessments, job hazard assessments (JHAs), and incident investigations to identify event causes and implement robust, sustainable corrective actions
- Monitor and maintain safety documentation, procedures, and training records
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and leadership
- Assist with environmental compliance initiatives including waste management, air emissions, hazardous materials handling, and sustainability practices
- Perform regular audits and inspections of manufacturing, laboratory, and facility environments

- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and leadership teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
- 3+ years of process safety engineering experience in L-PBF
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or PE
- Experience with environmental program management
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
- Experience supporting rapidly scaling or high-growth additive manufacturing operations
Work Environment
