Job Description
Summary: Divergent is a technology company focused on revolutionizing industrial manufacturing in the aerospace and defense sectors. They are seeking a skilled Structures Engineer to support the product development life cycle, manage CAD and FEA models, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate and optimize vehicle structures.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage CAD designs of the components, as well as the BOM structure
- Build up and analyze FE Models of Node™-based vehicle structures applications including validation using hand calculations and optimization
- Present design summary/reports efficiently at meetings and to other relevant engineers or external parties
- Create, refine, and execute new technical solutions for automotive structures to support external customer programs and joint development efforts
- Work collaboratively in a team environment within the DAPS Product Engineering team and cross-functionally with other disciplines to efficiently design and release structures that are optimized for mass, efficient production, and assembly
- Work cross-functionally to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and support prototype and production build activities
- Maintain technical documentation, including best practices and lesson learned
- Support vehicle builds and product development testing and troubleshooting
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience in structure design
- CAD experience creating detailed models. Siemens NX is a plus
- PLM experience. Teamcenter is a plus
- Experience in structural analysis
- Experience in analysis software packages such as Nastran, Optistruct, and/or LS-Dyna
- Solid understanding of linear/nonlinear behaviors of advanced materials (composites, adhesives, metals) to achieve lightweight structural solutions
- Experience with aerospace load applications and MIL-STDs
- Outstanding comprehension of solid mechanics
- Solid interpersonal skills and motivated self-starter who can manage personal workload and execution to tight schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience interfacing with engineering, testing, and manufacturing groups to understand system designs and the associated constraints
- Experience with DFMEA, DVP, control plans, PPAP and APQP
- Knowledge of overall vehicle systems/sub-systems and requirements
- Experience supporting analysis and completing documentations for product approval and launch
- Experience supporting structural design and analysis throughout the design, build, and test phases of a development cycle
- Experience with fast iteration prototyping programs
- Experiencing with managing system configurations and managing changes to size, weight, and cost constraints
- Supported or engaged directly with DoD airworthiness stakeholders such as Air Force Test Center (AFTC) or FAA
