ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING INTERN
3I - Paid Intern · Location: Fort Wayne, IN, US

Summary of Position:
Electrical Engineering Intern, will collaborate closely with Denali engineers to support the manufacturing, testing, and implementation of design solutions that serve the customers' projects. The Intern will gain hands-on experience with industrial electrical and electronic systems and learn about various aspects of the industry, contributing to projects that improve our customers' overall efficiency and productivity.
Essential Functions:
• Assist senior engineers in building, testing, and setting up electrical solutions for customer projects, both in the lab and at customer sites
• Help identify and resolve issues with electrical equipment and components, working alongside experienced engineers to diagnose problems and find solutions
• Support the creation and upkeep of project documents such as installation guides, parts lists, and reference materials used by the team and customers
• Assist in reviewing and updating electrical design drawings and layouts to ensure they meet required safety and quality standards
• Help test completed electrical assemblies and systems, record results, and report any issues or inconsistencies to the engineering team
• Participate in project meetings and design discussions, contributing observations and gaining exposure to how engineering projects are planned and executed
• Assist with tracking and sourcing parts and materials, coordinating with internal teams to confirm availability and delivery timelines
• Support engineers during on-site customer installations and project rollouts, following all safety procedures and site requirements
• Research relevant industry information, product specifications, and new technologies related to assigned projects and share findings with the team
• Identify opportunities to improve how work is organized or documented and suggest practical solutions to the team
• Complete assigned tasks accurately and on time, and proactively flag any challenges or delays to your supervising engineer

Work Environment:
This position is based in a professional office setting and regularly utilizes workplace technology, including computers, smartphones, multifunction printers, cloud-based filing systems, and collaboration tools.
Physical Demands:
This role requires physical capabilities that support the successful execution of key responsibilities. The employee regularly engages in verbal and written communication with colleagues and clients to address project-related inquiries and must be able to convey accurate information clearly and efficiently. The position involves remaining seated at a workstation for approximately 75% of the time, with occasional movement throughout the office to access equipment, supplies, and shared resources. Daily tasks include consistent use of computers and standard office technology such as keyboards, printers, and multifunction devices. The role also involves transporting equipment boxes weighing up to 25 pounds within the building and to other offsite locations as needed for project support.
Required Education and Experience:
1. High School Diploma Required
2. Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field
