SOFTWARE ENGINEER I Full Time · Location: Toms River, NJ, US About the Position Specialty Systems, Inc. has an opening for a Software Engineer with the below described skills and experience to join our team of technical professionals supporting our State and Department of Defense customers. In this position, you will have a high-profile role in the development and qualification of systems used for the support of unique State and Department of Defense systems. Ideal candidates will have a broad set of software engineering technical skills and must be able to work both individually and within a team environment. As a member of our team, you will be able to experience the professional satisfaction of playing a key role in ensuring that our customers’ systems are performing at optimal levels. This position is located at our Toms River, NJ location. Job responsibilities will include: • Participate in software code reviews code. • Review software requirements specifications, software design documents, and test procedures. • Developing/maintaining software systems/modules using contemporary programming languages such as Angular, Java, C#, C/C++, SQL, Python, HTML and SQL. • Utilizing Integrated Development Environments such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, Angular, MS SQL Server, and Jira. • Performing unit testing of software code. • Designing software solutions that meet specifications. • Maintaining traceability from software requirements to design elements to code modules. • Participating in project team peer reviews of software development work products. • Working within multiple Software Development Lifecycle methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall. • Support software installation, troubleshooting, and system level testing.   Position Qualification Requirements: • A BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field is preferred. • Must have a Secret level or higher clearance or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance. • Should have at least 1 or more years’ experience working in a software development role. • Security+ CE or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months. Technical: • Must have software development skills in one or more of the following: HTML, C, C++, and/or C#. • Must have experience developing/supporting software applications on the Windows and/or Linux platforms. • Individuals should be self-starters able to work with little supervision to support agile development of software. • Should have experience performing software unit testing. • Should have experience with Visual Studio or other IDE environments. • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills. • Must be able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Security Clearance Notice: • Applicants selected must have a U.S. Government security clearance of secret level or higher and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Salary Range: This position has a salary range of between $75,000 and $85,000, based on the candidates match to the skill and experience levels required.
