Company Description
Whakatakoto te tūāpapa - Laying the foundation
At Contact Energy, we’re on a bold journey to decarbonise Aotearoa’s energy system, putting our energy where it matters most. We’re focused on delivering sustainable value for our customers, our communities, and our shareholders, while being thoughtful kaitiaki of the natural resources we’re privileged to manage. Our work is collaborative by nature, partnering closely with iwi, local communities, contractors, and industry to ensure our projects create lasting benefits well beyond the generation of electricity.
Our geothermal developments in Taupō sit at the heart of this commitment. From Wairakei to our latest investment in the Te Mihi 2A project, a 100MW geothermal power station, we’re building the future of renewable energy in New Zealand. These projects are shaping the next generation of infrastructure, supporting our goal of carbon zero by 2035, and leaving a legacy we can all be proud of.
Job Description
Te āhua o te tūranga I The nature of the role
This is an opportunity to step into a pivotal role supporting one of Aotearoa’s most exciting renewable projects. As Quality Supervisor, you’ll be right in the action, working across the full lifecycle of the Te Mihi 2A development, from design through to construction and commissioning. You’ll spend your time out on site and alongside project teams, helping ensure every element of the steamfield and power station build meets the highest quality standards.
You’ll be the go-to for quality on the ground, connecting contractors, suppliers, and project leaders to keep everything aligned and moving forward. From supporting quality assurance planning to identifying smarter ways of working, you’ll play a key role in keeping the project on track, delivering safely, and ensuring every component meets both technical and contractual expectations. Along the way, you’ll contribute to strong relationships within the team and with the wider community, helping create something that will stand the test of time.
Qualifications
Ko wai koe | About you
You’re someone who takes pride in doing things properly and enjoys being part of a high-performing, down-to-earth team. You bring a practical mindset, curiosity, and the ability to stay calm and focused in a busy project environment. You’re equally comfortable on site having a kōrero with contractors as you are coordinating documentation or working through complex challenges with project stakeholders.
To set you up for success, there are a few things that will really help:
Must-haves
- Experience in quality assurance or quality control within construction or engineering
- Relevant trade or engineering background, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across teams
- Confidence working with documentation, systems, and reporting requirements
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in large-scale infrastructure or power generation projects
- Familiarity with geothermal or renewable energy environments
- Understanding of EPC or design and build contracting models
- Exposure to working within complex, multi-contractor project environments
Just as important is how you show up. You’re a team player who values collaboration and respects the contribution of others. You’re proactive, solutions-focused, and comfortable working in the grey when things aren’t always clear-cut. You bring energy, positivity, and a willingness to learn, and you’re motivated by being part of something bigger than yourself. If you’re excited by the idea of contributing to a project that will leave a lasting legacy for Aotearoa, we’d love to hear from you.
