The Role
Condé Nast Italy is looking for an expert and motivated Legal Counsel for a fixed-term maternity coverage. Working from the HQ of Milan and reporting to the Head of Legal, Europe, the person will work as part of the Legal & Business Affairs Team and be responsible for providing strategic, commercially focused legal advice with particular responsibility for supporting the Commercial, Consumer, Talent, Events, and Editorial teams.
Please note that this role will join Condé Nast Italy with a fixed-term contract (Maternity Cover) of maximum 12 months.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation, review, negotiation, and approval of sales agreements and related commercial documentation for both standard and bespoke deals
Provide legal advice on advertising, sponsorship, licensing, branded content, partnerships, and commercial initiatives
Provide legal support on agreements relating to talent participation in commercial campaigns, editorial initiatives, branded content, and events
Draft and negotiate agreements with talent, agents, production companies, venues, suppliers, and event partners
Advise on consumer-facing propositions, digital products, subscription offerings, competitions, promotions, and audience engagement initiatives
Provide guidance on digital marketing, social media, influencer activity, online advertising, and emerging technologies
Advise editorial stakeholders on media law, intellectual property, and content-related legal risks
Review editorial, branded, and multimedia content prior to publication to identify and mitigate legal exposure
Support the resolution of claims, disputes, takedown requests, and rights clearance matters
Advise on the legal and regulatory aspects of staging events, including permits, permissions, insurance, and sponsorship arrangements
Partner closely with internal stakeholders to facilitate efficient deal execution and risk management
Primary Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of professional experience as a Legal Counsel, Legal Specialist or similar roles, in-house or in a law firm
Admission to bar is considered a plus
Professional working proficiency in Italian and English; knowledge of other languages is considered a strong plus
Strong expertise in commercial, sales, advertising, marketing, media, and consumer law
Solid understanding of intellectual property, digital media, social media, influencer marketing, and advertising regulation, including awareness of emerging legal and regulatory trends
Experience advising on commercial contracts, content licensing, events, and consumer-facing initiatives within a fast-paced business environment
Proven ability to deliver clear, practical, and commercially focused legal advice to senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and operate effectively in a dynamic media environment
Experience in the media and/or entertainment industry is considered a strong plus
Salary Range
The position is expected to be classified from 2nd to 1st level under the “Graphic - Editorial” Collective Bargaining Agreement, with an annual gross salary ranging from €36.000 to €45.000, in addition to a comprehensive employee benefits package.
