Job Description
Summary: The Commonwealth of Kentucky is dedicated to providing a safe and efficient transportation system. As a Highway Technician Assistant I, you will operate basic automotive and power equipment for road construction and maintenance, including traffic flagging and snow removal duties.
Responsibilities:
- Use construction equipment to maintain roads
- Use equipment to control vegetation along roads
- Participate in snow and ice removal during inclement weather events
- Perform traffic flagging operations during road maintenance
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Driver's license
- Eligibility to obtain a Commercial Driver's License
- Basic maintenance or construction experience
- Willingness to work outdoors
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification
- Within 12 months of employment in this job classification, employees must furnish the agency's appointing authority with documentation that he or she holds a valid Class B commercial driver's license
- Within one year of employment in this job classification, the employee must complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training and must possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent
- Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification
