Job Description
Summary: Collin College is seeking a part-time summer intern for the accounting department. The role involves performing a variety of accounting tasks, applying generally accepted accounting principles to reconcile and analyze data, and preparing statements and reports.
Responsibilities:
- Review, analyze, and reconcile various accounts on the general ledger and the subsidiary ledger for accuracy including areas of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and fixed assets
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries for general ledger accounts, updating documentation as needed
- Assist in the preparation of reports by preparing and reviewing data required by various reporting agencies including local, state or federal
- Assist with the preparation of audit schedules, financial statements, and statistical data related to the annual audit and Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Perform all duties to maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures, and Core Values
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or enrolled in college accounting courses
- Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and accounting systems
- Knowledge of GASB, GAAP, and accounting best practices
- Knowledge of Excel and Word
- Willingness to take initiative, prioritize and perform proactively
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Effective organizational and oral communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and time constraints to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively with personnel and with internal and external partners
