Job Description
Summary: CesiumAstro is a pioneer in communication systems for space and airborne platforms, seeking passionate interns to join their Specialty Engineering Team. Interns will work closely with staff engineers on specialty analysis and testing across various engineering disciplines, contributing directly to active space electronics design projects.
Responsibilities:
- Perform specialty analysis and test across a range of disciplines including component, radiation, materials and process, reliability, and EMI/EMC engineering
- Support mechanical and electrical engineering teams as a radiation engineer
- Assist electrical engineering designers in identifying components that meet performance requirements and survive harsh environments as a component engineer
Required Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Science (MS), or PhD program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited university
- Strong fundamentals in EE or physics topics covered in coursework
- Practical experience designing and building electronics hardware for a research project, competition team, extracurricular activity, prior internship, or advanced engineering course
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. CesiumAstro interns regularly present their work to peers, mentors, and executive leadership throughout the course of the summer
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate coursework officially focused on Space Mission Design
- Familiarity with Basilisk Framework, GMAT, or STK for mission simulation
- Programming ability in C++
- A minor or coursework in finance or business accompanying an undergraduate engineering or physics degree
- Advanced coursework space mission design, satellite business models, or related areas
- Aerospace experience, such as a previous internship or school CubeSat project
- Familiarity with electronics schematic and layout tools such as Altium
- Familiarity with radiation engineering software such as ray tracing (FASTRAD), environment definition (OMERE, AE/AP9, CRÈME, SPENVIS), or particle transport
- Advanced coursework or research experience in semiconductors or circuit design
- Strong programming skills to support (C/C++, Python, MATLAB, etc.)
- Experience with SPICE-based circuit simulation
