Job Description
Summary: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is dedicated to managing and conserving Texas's natural resources while providing outdoor recreational opportunities. They are seeking an Intern to assist with wildlife and habitat management, conduct baseline inventories, and help maintain area facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Performs maintenance, repair, construction and development of management area facilities, including buildings, public use facilities, wildlife/livestock water facilities, fences, roads, trails and signs
- Operates and maintains vehicles, trailers, small engines, pumps, heavy equipment and other machinery and equipment as necessary
- Observes, collects and compiles wildlife survey, wildlife research and other biological data
- Coordinates work with Fish and Wildlife Technicians and other staff
- Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with Agency, Division and Department rules, regulations, and procedures
Required Qualifications:
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university or recent graduate with a bachelor's degree or higher within the last 6 months
- Minimum of 18 completed semester credit hours from an accredited college or university at time of application
- Must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grade point scale or 'Pass' on a Pass/Fail system
- Must possess a valid state driver's license
- Knowledge of office practices or administrative procedures
- Knowledge of practices and policies in purchasing
- Knowledge of accounting/accountability of revenue collection
- Skill in use of standard office equipment and software
- Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams and Adobe products
- Skill in managing several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to interpret and apply agency policies and procedures
- Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of administrative systems or procedures
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in dealing with matters of significant consequences
