Job Description
Summary: Bronco Wine Company, a family-owned business founded in 1973, is focused on crafting quality wines. The Winemaking Intern will support the winemaking team through hands-on participation in all stages of wine production, providing practical experience in harvest activities, wine processing, and quality control.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in wine tasting at all stages throughout the winemaking process
- Responsible for conducting winemaking trials, including sample attainment, processing, tasting, and record keeping
- Monitor fermentation health and assist with data collection/ organization during harvest
- Lead lab organization and cleanliness during peak production periods
- Assist winemakers with writing work orders for all production related tasks from harvest to bottling
- Collaborate with winemakers on all blends to ensure bottling requirements are met on time by supporting blend trials and any bottling preparation tasks
- Complete special projects or research assignments as assigned
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the winemaking process and procedures
- Participate in training sessions and shadow experienced winemakers
- Comply with winery SOPs, OSHA guidelines, and safety protocols
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in university or obtained a Degree in Enology, Chemistry or other science related fields
- Must possess strong communication, problem-solving, and presentation skills
- Ability to conduct and manage experiments in relation to wine quality
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work at heights up to 50 feet repeatedly
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in wet, hot, cold, or dusty conditions
- Comfortable working around heavy machinery, chemicals, and confined spaces
- Ability to ascend and descent ramps, steps, ladders, and stairs using three-point contact
- Must be able to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays during harvest
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior winery, cellar, lab, or harvest experience
- Familiarity with basic winery equipment and lab procedures
- Familiarity with sensory evaluation techniques
