Job Description
Summary: Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) is dedicated to empowering youth in the community with equitable access to opportunities. The Youth Program Leader is responsible for leading a classroom, providing academic mentoring, and facilitating engaging learning experiences for students.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a classroom of approximately 10-20 students per 1 staff
- Provide academic mentoring and homework assistance
- Lead students through academic activities
- Adapt lesson plans for delivering enrichment classes and clubs (art, cooking, STEM, fitness, etc.)
- Conduct life skills and team-building activities
- Communicate with parents/guardians, school staff, and BGCP leadership
- Engage in weekly check-ins and participate in staff meetings
- Maintain a positive, safe, productive work environment
- Participate in supporting special events and field trips
- Attend training and professional development opportunities
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Commitment to BGCP's mission and vision, and to supporting TK–8 youth
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Experience building relationships with diverse youth communities and constituents
- Ability to motivate through positive reinforcement
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to navigate and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of experience working with TK–8 youth (preferred)
- Spanish fluency is a plus
