Job Description
Summary: BakerRipley is dedicated to managing legal affairs, contracting, and procurement. The Legal Assistant Intern will support the Legal team by processing contracts, UCC Liens, Subpoenas, and other legal documents while ensuring compliance with deadlines and handling confidential information.
Responsibilities:
- Support the prompt execution of contracts and other legal documents
- Use discretion in handling confidential and personal information
- Ensure prompt and thorough responses to external requests and UCC lien inquiries
- Track and ensure compliance with applicable deadlines
- Review and organize large quantities of documents
- Communicate professionally in writing and verbally with internal and external parties
- Handle sensitive employee data, legal strategies, and privileged/confidential information with the utmost discretion
- Assist in maintenance of contract database by ensuring required documentation is properly stored and organized
- Balance a variety of competing tasks and deadlines and transition between tasks as needed
- Update contract templates with guidance from attorney staff and ensure consistency across template library
- Assist legal, contract and procurement team members as needed with proofreading, formatting and submitting legal and procurement documents
- Draft and proofread formal legal correspondence
- Other tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 2+ years experience in a legal setting
- Microsoft Word proficiency required
- Outlook proficiency required
- OneDrive/Sharepoint proficiency required
- Teams proficiency required
- Adobe proficiency required
- Excel proficiency required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Paralegal certificate preferred
- Eligibility for a notary license strongly preferred
