About the Art Gallery :
The Associated Students Art Gallery is located on the top floor of the Student Center. Our student funded
and student staffed gallery is dedicated to amplifying artistic works of artists on and off campus. We
curate/provide exhibitions that feature artists at any stage in their career. The gallery hosts exhibits, popup
shows, and receptions annually.
Job Summary :
The Art Gallery Assistant assists in executing exhibitions, programs, and events while managing gallery
communications with internal and external partners. They support outreach efforts, create promotional
materials, and maintain records of artists and artwork.
Job Duties
● Work with the gallery team in the execution of exhibitions, programs, and activities.
● Manage art gallery email communications regarding collaborative events with external and
internal partners
● Collaborates with the team to create promotional materials and event announcements
● Maintain records of artwork, artists, and gallery contacts
● Greet and assist visitors, providing information about exhibitions and artists
● Prepare introductory materials for visiting groups to familiarize them with the AS Art
Gallery mission and current exhibit(s)
● Brainstorm exhibit themes or related event concepts for future exhibits when
required
● Organizes outreach and tabling events to promote Art Gallery events
● Manage day-to-day operations to maintain the gallery
● Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
● Must be currently enrolled at SF State with a minimum of 6 units a semester for
undergraduates or 4 units for graduates.
● Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Knowledge in exhibition design and preparation
- Familiar with Mac, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or social media platforms
- Experience framing artwork
- Art History, Studio, IAC Museum Studies, Ethnic Studies, Sociology, and related
Skills:
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Reliable and consistently punctual
Effective team building and collaboration.
Ability to work within an environment that is ethnically and culturally diverse, and that emphasizes the knowledge and values related to cross and trans cultural communication and relations.
Analytical, decisive, and detail-oriented with strong communication and organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong skills in spreadsheets, word processing, memo writing, meeting coordination, and file organization.
