Job's mission
Controller 1, Inventory Business Control is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of inventory accounting and reporting. The role supports month-end and quarter-end closing activities, drives inventory controls, partners with Business Units (BU) and Operations, and ensures compliance with corporate governance and audit requirements.
In the semiconductor equipment industry, where component lead times can span months, inventory values are substantial, and logistics networks span multiple continents, this role provides essential financial rigor. The role ensures that inventory is accurately valued, that excess and obsolescence risks are proactively identified and reserved, that freight and logistics costs are tightly controlled, and that working capital is continuously optimized. The role partners closely with Manufacturing Finance, Procurement Finance, and FP&A to deliver integrated financial insight across the supply chain.
What you will be working on
Perform monthly inventory reconciliation between ASM SAP systems, including Finished Goods (FG).
Analyze variances by reconciling Difference Analyzer with Inventory Overview reports and resolve discrepancies timely.
Consolidate reporting in Power BI (PBI) and review with the Inventory Planning Team.
Monitor and manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) inventory
Coordinate with BU Teams on status updates and ensure timely closure/TECO of WBS items aged > 6 months
Consolidate WIP files and support Legal Entity (LE) review
Manager IA & Scrap reporting
Extract reports for Logistics validation
Perform posting checks in SAP S/4 across manufacturing plants
Track GSN and ensure proper utilization of Excess & Obsolete (E&O) provisions via journal entries
Consolidate data in BlackLine for reporting and reconciliation.
Perform review and validation of GSN and IA submissions in SAP.
Manage cycle count and physical inventory count programs, coordinating with warehouse operations and auditors to ensure inventory accuracy and SOX compliance
Ensure proper accounting treatment for inventory receipts, transfers, returns, scraps, and adjustments in compliance with IFRS and company policy
Month End Close, Forecast and Financial Reporting
Prepare and post journal entries, including:
E&O write-offs and monthly provisions
Inventory valuation reclassifications
IA & Scrap adjustments
Other ad hoc entries as required
Conduct P&L review to ensure accuracy of inventory-related impacts
Prepare monthly reporting slides covering:
Global Operations working capital performance
Inventory updates for BU Finance
Support BU Finance requests, including:
Raw material, WIP, and FG reporting (FEMS extracts)
Inventory Integrity & Control (Bi-Weekly)
Drive actions in inventory integrity meetings.
Ensure resolution of SLOC aging items.
Perform reconciliation on MBLB
Ensure MRB (Material Review Board) reviews in place
Identify and mitigate upcoming inventory discrepancies.
Quarter-End and Corporate Reporting
Consolidate and review E&O provisions, including GSN tracking.
Prepare PBI reports and review with stakeholders.
Support (FCF) self-assessment and GRC uploads: Inventory controls, Cycle counts, ABC indicator updates
Prepare corporate reporting submissions: E&O movement by material, Quarterly P&L impact, Year-to-date balance sheet positions, Commentary on significant variances
Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement
Maintain and continuously strengthen SOX controls over inventor
Support internal and external audits related to inventory valuation, E&O reserve adequacy
Support external audits through coordinating and attending stock counts, preparing stock listings and ensuring proper cut-off documentation with warehouse teams, responding to audit queries
Handle ad hoc inventory-related requests.
Drive process improvements in inventory reporting, reconciliation, and controls.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Logistics, Operations) to enhance data accuracy and efficiency
What we are looking for
Minimum Degree in Accounting, ACCA, CPA or CMA
Strong understanding of inventory accounting and cost control.
Minimum 6 years of finance/controlling experience, relevant experience in manufacturing finance roles
Knowledge of internal controls and compliance (GRC, audit)
Ability to work under tight deadlines during closing cycles
Experience with ERP systems (SAP) in a manufacturing context, advanced analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau), advanced Excel and financial modeling
Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional teams in fast-moving, technology-driven organizations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic industry
