Robotics Systems Engineer I, Tech Deployment

Summary: Amazon is seeking a Robotics Systems Engineer I to join their Robotics Delivery & Packaging Innovations (RDPI) Technology Deployment team. The role involves overseeing large scale project planning, installation, and launch of industrial automation technologies across Amazon's Stores network, requiring extensive travel and collaboration with various stakeholders. Responsibilities: - You will support and guide installation of robotics, packaging and sortation technologies at Amazon fulfillment centers - You will develop detailed knowledge of the operation of robotic systems and guide installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of these systems both on site and remotely - You will manage technical ambiguity around integration of work cells in fulfillment centers - You will collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, product managers, and internal customers including site maintenance and operations teams - You will travel to project sites and collaborate both virtually and in person to ensure all business stakeholders are aligned on program status - You will manage day to day project scheduling and budget management - You will work on continuous improvement activities to improve the projects in your space - You will generate and implement continuous improvement ideas around work-scopes - You will lead teams of other engineers on projects - You will travel to both live warehouses and new construction sites, the scopes may vary significantly in length and include heavy travel - You will travel to project sites across North America, upwards of 75% or more Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent - 1+ year's experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models (mechanical and electrical) - 1+ year's Experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems - Understanding of data collection, reporting processes, and ability to make data-driven decisions - Ability to read technical drawings and/or reading CAD models to resolve on-site clash issues using 3D clash detection reports - Ability to troubleshoot robotics systems to resolve escalations including quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, operational readiness testing, monitoring robotics system performance, etc - Ability to read and develop technical documentation and process instructions - Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment - Willingness to work primarily in a construction or warehouse environment in a field-based role and travel extensively across the US and potentially internationally - Must be proficient in standard office software tools and processes Preferred Qualifications: - 1+ years of engineering, construction, manufacturing, or warehouse environment experience - Proven experience working on hardware integration or complex mechanical-electrical or networked industrial equipment. Knowledge of specific robotic equipment (Fanuc, ABB), and Allen Bradley PLC experience - Ability to demonstrate past use of data to drive decision making processes - Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP) - Ability to take independent initiative when presented with a business need - Certified in OSHA, ANSI, or other Automation Safety Certifications.
