Associate Scientist II, Protein Sciences

Summary: Alnylam Pharmaceuticals is a leader in RNAi therapeutics, and they are seeking an Associate Scientist II to join their protein sciences team. The role involves contributing to protein production and conjugation efforts, performing protein binding experiments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance research programs. Responsibilities: - Work closely with the protein sciences team to engineer and validate binding of antibodies and antibody conjugates at various production scales - Design, plan, and perform protein binding experiments to support in vitro and in vivo evaluations, contributing to project-related scientific activities with some guidance from team members - Utilize UV–Vis spectroscopy and HPLC to analyze, quantify, characterize, and formulate protein conjugates - Contribute to the maintenance of laboratory infrastructure and equipment - Support group organization, productivity, and expertise through collaboration and idea exchange - Meet quality, quantity, and timeline expectations for all assigned projects - Support discovery efforts in protein sciences - Maintain accurate and complete electronic notebook records - Communicate experimental plans and data to multiple cross-functional scientific teams Required Qualifications: - BS/MS degree in biology, biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry, or a related field, with 0–1 years of relevant laboratory experience in a biopharma or academic setting - Familiarity with protein and/or antibody structure and function - Passion for driving projects from the bench, independently contributing to research goals, and solving challenging problems - Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working on highly technical projects in a multidisciplinary team setting - Effective written and oral communication skills Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with protein binding techniques (ELISA, flow cytometry, SPR and/or BLI) - Experience with instrumentation such as Octet, Biacore, flow cytometers, and UV–Vis spectrometers - Experience with protein and protein conjugate analysis (e.g., affinity chromatography, SEC, IEX, SDS-PAGE, UV–Vis spectroscopy) - Experience with sterile technique and/or handling mammalian cell culture Required Skills: Protein expression, Protein purification, Analytical techniques Important Skills: Protein binding techniques, Instrumentation experience, Protein analysis Nice-to-Have Skills: Detail-oriented, Self-motivated, Effective communication Benefits: Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, Life and disability insurance, A lifestyle reimbursement program, Flexible spending and health savings accounts, A 401(k) with a generous company match, Paid time off, Wellness days, Holidays, Two company-wide recharge breaks, Generous family resources and leave
