About the role
AGL Macquarie has an opportunity for an experienced Manager, Health & Safety to lead safety performance across a large, complex operating site.
Bayswater is a critical asset in AGL’s generation portfolio, delivering reliable energy today while continuing to operate through the transition to a lower‑carbon future. This role offers the opportunity to influence safety outcomes in a high‑risk environment with an established workforce and contractor base.
Working closely with operational leaders, workforce and contractor stakeholders, you will drive practical, risk‑based improvements and support the long‑term capability and resilience of the site.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and deliver measurable improvements in safety performance across the site, aligned to key operational risks
- Coach operational leaders to integrate safety into day‑to‑day decision‑making.
- Set clear expectations for contractor safety performance and ensure consistent application of AGL standards onsite
- Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing H&S team focused on insight, risk and delivery of practical solutions
- Oversee critical risk management activities, including risk assessment, verification of controls and safety assurance
- Maintain effective systems for managing health and safety risk, including reporting, governance and assurance processes
- Contribute to the Site Leadership Team and broader HSE network, influencing decisions and sharing learnings across the business
What you’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety (occupational hygiene capability an advantage)
- Leadership experience in health and safety within high‑risk industries (e.g. energy, mining, oil & gas, heavy industry)
- Proven ability to influence, build credibility and work effectively with operational leaders and contractors
- Experience in overseeing and managing occupational health programs and surveillance and regulatory reporting
- Strong capability in risk management, safety systems, assurance and project delivery, with a practical, outcomes‑focused approach
