ACCIONA Mechanical & Electrical is a specialist division within ACCIONA, delivering end-to-end mechanical and electrical design, construction, installation and commissioning services that support the transition to a low-carbon future.
Position
The Senior Electrical Drafter plays a critical role in ACCIONA’s delivery of major infrastructure projects. The position is responsible for establishing and maintaining CAD and 3D modelling standards, and for leading the development of detailed electrical designs and drawings using appropriate design software.
This role ensures that all models, drawings and deliverables meet the required standards for technical quality, constructability, and safety in design, in line with relevant Australian standards, client requirements, and ACCIONA’s quality systems.
The Senior Electrical Drafter is responsible for ensuring all activities comply with company and project standards, procedures, policies, and applicable laws, regulations and industry standards. The role involves the use of computer-aided design systems to produce accurate technical drawings for construction, while ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and apply engineering fundamentals using mathematical, numerical, and computational tools to predict technical, commercial, environmental, and social performance.
Conduct research and integrate current technical knowledge, standards, and emerging technologies to inform design decisions and meet client requirements.
Design, analyse, and optimise engineering systems or components by applying multidisciplinary engineering science and ensuring safety, efficiency, and resource optimisation.
Adapt engineering solutions to local environmental conditions, regulations, and constraints while incorporating lessons learned and industry best practices.
Identify, analyse, and solve complex engineering problems using systematic methods, risk assessment, and stakeholder collaboration.
Develop, test, validate, and continuously improve engineering products, processes, or systems with a focus on innovation and value creation.
Evaluate and verify engineering outcomes against specifications using data analysis tools, documenting results and implementing improvements to enhance performance and reliability.
Required Skills and Competencies
Bachelor of Engineering, or equivalent
Knowledge of digital engineering workflows, and major project governance
Exposure to EPC delivery environments and rapid-response construction support
Strong CAD/3D modelling skills (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit)
Solid understanding of electrical drafting standards and documentation
Ability to produce accurate, high-quality technical drawings
Knowledge of constructability and safety-in-design principles
