Abbott Diabetes Care Donegal
Located in Donegal town near the beautiful beaches of the Wild Atlantic Way, Abbott Donegal is a state-of-the-art medical device advanced manufacturing facility. Our community of ~750 employees produce a range of diagnostic test strips for the Freestyle family of sensors used with Abbott’s Freestyle glucose monitoring products that enable our customers live their best lives through better health.
Purpose of Role
As site Human Resources Manager, you will report to the Ireland Human Resources Director, be a member of the Abbott Ireland HR Staff and the Donegal Site Leadership Team.
Your primary function will be to manage the delivery of HR services for the Donegal site ensuring alignment with HR Strategy and the needs of the business. You will also have responsibility for progressing the Ireland HR strategy and programs with demonstrated experience across Employee Relations, Organizational Design, Talent Fulfilment, and Compensation & Benefits.
Major Responsibilities
Organization Alignment to the Business Strategy: Evaluate the external market, external and internal best practice and business trends in order to translate the strategy of the business into actionable HR strategies. Be an active thought partner with the business to influence the business leader.
HR Strategy Development: Develop, design, and deliver human capital strategies that align with, and support the business: Translate business strategies into people implications and resulting HR strategies and tactics. Develop solutions to a variety of complex HR challenges.
Execution: Coordinate project teams to ensure that all have deliverables based on project team’s expertise and development areas. Execute deliverables according to timelines agreed involving partners within HR or in the Divisions if necessary. Course-correct where appropriate in the face of setbacks, changes or when new information becomes available. Anticipate and identify roadblock items to avoid excess work.
Consultation and Influencing Change: Be a trusted business partner. Listen, obtain feedback, and maintain objectivity while considering trade-offs between competing priorities. Leverage relationships and use different styles appropriately throughout the organization to challenge/influence business leader’s thinking. Use change management principles to ensure adoption and sustainment of initiatives.
Navigating HR: Extend collaborative relationships across the organization, HR functional boundaries, cultures, and other disciplines. Facilitate connections and joint working across teams, disciplines and functions. Proactively share knowledge and expertise to help create solutions across boundaries. Coach and enable others to resolve conflict and build trust within teams and functions.
Data & Technology-Driven: Understand and use different technologies to drive streamlined and effective delivery of people processes, improve collaboration and the employee/ manager experience. Use social medial to access professional communities and build internal communities to drive people strategies. Design measures, interpret data and develop insights to inform/make business decisions, in a non-biased way.
Education/Background/ Skills/Knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
7+ years’ experience in HR
HR acumen: experience managing areas such as talent management, performance management, organizational design/development, ER, TA, compensation.
Multi HR-functional experience (TA, ER, Talent Development, Compensation).
Progressive HR Manager / Business Partner experience.
