Overview
We are seeking a Transfusion Medicine Ambassador to support a key customer in New Zealand, delivering exceptional technical support and customer outcomes across one of our most strategically important accounts.
This is a high-impact, field-based role where you will act as the technical and relationship lead for New Zealand, working closely with a key strategic partner, being the primary in-country representative for Abbott Transfusion Medicine.
You will combine engineering expertise, transfusion knowledge, and customer leadership to ensure optimal system performance, strengthen partnerships, and drive continuous improvement within a highly regulated healthcare environment.
You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, while remaining closely connected to a broader team of ambassadors and specialists based in Australia. Success in this role requires strong self-direction, accountability, and the ability to influence and deliver outcomes independently.
Working across multiple customer sites, you will bring deep technical expertise, strong diagnostics knowledge, and a proven ability to build trust and credibility with stakeholders to manage complex environments, solve problems, and deliver a consistently high-quality customer experience. The role involves regular travel primarily between Auckland and Christchurch, with occasional international travel. The role can be based in either Auckland or Christchurch.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary technical ambassador in New Zealand for Abbott Transfusion Medicine, with accountability for the system performance for a key strategic partner.
Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders through proactive, clear, and professional communication
Provide hands-on technical support, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting across instrumentation automation, and software systems
Lead root cause analysis and issue resolution, ensuring accurate and compliant documentation (aligned to GMP and quality standards)
Operate with a high degree of autonomy, effectively managing priorities, travel, and customer needs across multiple sites
Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver coordinated and high-quality customer outcomes
Maintain high standards in inventory management, stock control, and service workflows
Ensure full compliance with corporate governance, quality, and regulatory standards
Support business reviews, KPI tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives
Contribute to territory sales targets and support growth in instrument and consumable adoption
Identify and support new business opportunities within the existing customer environment
Deliver training, education, and system optimisation support to enhance customer capability and experience
Qualification and experience
A degree in Biomedical Engineering, Engineering, or related field
Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail
Experience within diagnostics, transfusion medicine, or laboratory environments (preferred)
The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and build confidence with stakeholders
Experience working within regulated environments (GMP, quality systems)
A proactive, organised, and accountable approach, with strong ownership of outcomes
The ability to work independently while staying connected to a broader team
Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust quickly
Resilience and adaptability in managing complex customer environments and competing priorities
Working Environment
Field-based role covering multiple sites across New Zealand
Regular travel required (Auckland and Christchurch focus)
Occasional international travel
Reporting to the Ambassador Lead - ANZ, with strong support from a broader Australian-based ATM team
