Job Description
Summary: UI Health is a comprehensive healthcare provider dedicated to health equity, serving the people of Illinois and beyond. The Program Coordinator will administer various health programs, including TB and respiratory fit testing, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting employee wellness initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Partners with the UHS leadership, responsible for implementing program priorities, setting goals, and objectives in the ongoing process of the TB and Respiratory Fit Testing programs
- Plan, organize, and execute annual onsite TB and RFT surveillance program for UIC campus, including UI Health, BRL, and satellite campuses, in coordination with clinical leadership
- Formulate and report on TB and RFT program compliance and patterns for UIC campus, including UI Health, BRL, and satellite campuses, as needed
- Coordinates, implements, and reports on TB exposure monitoring and tracking
- Reviews raw data with UHS leadership to determine TB conversion
- Benchmark successful program initiatives and apply findings to program enhancement as needed
- Assist UHS clinic team to develop strategies for prevention of workplace illness and injury including updating annual plans, presenting data to departmental leaders, and coordinating UHS programs around injury prevention
- Work collaboratively with hospital safety officer and EOC team members around developing strategies for hazard identification and assessment
- Assist with departmental reporting on Zero Harm injuries including Safe Patient Handling & Mobility and Workplace Violence prevention
- Monitor existing safety resources and federal regulatory bodies and make recommendations for changes/updates to existing policies as appropriate
- Provide departmental education on topics related to workplace safety and wellness. Contribute written articles to internal and external publications
- Assist with Safe Patient Handling (SPH) initiatives in coordination with SPH Program Director
- Partners with campus entities to develop Wellness initiative and programs including UI Health initiatives, campus initiative and Exercise is Medicine
- Develop innovative and creative approaches to engage employee health and wellness
- Collaborate with internal and external partners on program implementation
- Participate in developing timelines, communications, and content for wellness programs initiatives
- Manages the UHS department website
- Provides program knowledge, education and expertise of processes related to TB and Fit testing, including training and educational sessions, and pursues professional development activities to expand knowledge and maintain currency
- Provides management reports, analyses, data, and information for administrative purposes
- Sets and interprets operating policies and processes for the unit; reviews, initiates programs and operations; establishes policies relating to utilization of office resources related to TB, fit testing, and any other regulatory compliance as needed
- Acts as point of contact with campus, agency and university departments and represents the senior administrator on various committees
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
- Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (120 hours) in public, mental, and/or medical health education, social work, psychology, student personnel/affairs, education or communications
- A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in Public Health related to TB surveillance, respirator fit testing, safe patient handling, employee wellness, and other prevention programs (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
- OSHA training certificate completion in Respiratory Protection, Incident Investigation, OSHA standards for General Industry, Health Hazard Awareness preferred
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Skill in analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
- Skill in scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others
- Skill in oral and written communication
- Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
