Research Associate

Summary: NYU Langone Health is a leading medical institution committed to improving the human condition through education and research. The Research Associate will support genetic and functional genomics studies, performing tasks such as cell culture, molecular biology experiments, and laboratory management. Responsibilities: - Lab Duties-General techniques in genetics and molecular biology (DNA/RNA/protein extraction, sequencing, cell culture). Under supervision, may perform more advanced lab experiments. Assist in ordering and tracking of laboratory supplies. Maintain careful laboratory notes of all experiments performed - Procedure/protocol development - Assists in implementing new procedures and genomics protocols to support experiments. Participates actively in developing, recommending and implementing new procedures, or modification to existing protocols/procedures. Maintains and updates technical knowledge - Mouse handling- Assist with mouse breeding and genotyping for colony maintenance and experimental use - Communication - Cooperates, communicates and relates well to all levels in the lab. Listens carefully to others in order to respond appropriately, answers questions or obtains needed information. Communicates ideas, problems, suggestions, and messages in a timely and effective manner. Maintains the confidentiality of all research information - Judgement/Decision Making - Is able to recognize problems as they occur, and through the application of appropriate policy/procedure, determine and recommends the appropriate solution for trouble shooting. Seeks guidance as necessary for the performance of their duties, asks appropriate questions when in doubt and utilizes reference sources/materials to endure accuracy.
