Software Engineer

Summary: Next Match AI is building a new infrastructure for hiring that leverages AI to match candidates with employers. They are seeking a Software Engineer to work on their core platform, focusing on features that enhance candidate and employer experiences while ensuring system reliability and performance. Responsibilities: - Ship production features end-to-end - Work across front-end, back-end, and integrations (depending on your strengths) - Help us scale a platform that must handle thousands of candidates and employers safely and reliably - Design, build, and maintain core product features for candidates and employers - Develop and consume REST/GraphQL APIs and integrate third-party services (ATS, payments, identity) - Work with databases, authentication, permissions, and background jobs - Collaborate with product, design, and data/AI teams to define requirements and success metrics - Write clean, testable code; participate in code reviews and architecture discussions - Improve performance, reliability, and security across the stack - Help shape engineering culture, tools, and best practices as we scale Required Qualifications: - 1–7+ years of professional software engineering experience (we're open to strong juniors who can show projects and GitHub, and to experienced mid/senior engineers) - Solid foundation in data structures, APIs, and web fundamentals - Experience with at least one modern backend stack and one frontend framework - Comfort debugging complex issues and taking ownership from idea → shipped feature - Product mindset: you care about user impact, not just tickets - Comfortable working in a remote-first, fast-moving startup Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in HR tech, marketplaces, or SaaS platforms - Exposure to AI/ML products, ranking, or recommendation systems - Previously worked in an early-stage startup or founding engineer environment Required Skills: Data structures, APIs, Web fundamentals, React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind, Node.js, Express, Nest, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, AWS, Docker, CI/CD, Payment APIs, Authentication, ATS/HR systems, Product mindset, Debugging
